The State Highway Administration’s (SHA) District 4 (Baltimore and Harford Counties) is recruiting for a Transportation Engineering Technician II position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy only. Nature of Work: The primary purpose of this position is to provide engineering support by conducting testing on materials used in highway and bridge construction, improving inspection skills, and ensuring the quality of construction through interpretation of contract documents. This role also includes performing basic drafting duties, preparing reports, and assisting higher-level technicians in more advanced tasks. Work is performed under the supervision of an engineer or higher-level technician, with assignments varying based on experience. This position is crucial for ensuring accurate testing, documentation, and quality control in construction projects while supporting the development of more advanced technical skills.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:: One (1) year of the required experience must have involved in technical engineering related work in the areas of design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning.
Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute education in a civil engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for the year of the required experience.
2. Applicants who possess an associate degree in engineering, construction management or surveying or surveying technology from an accredited community college, college or university are considered to have met the experience requirement.Candidate must possess a driver' license valid in the state of Maryland.
Candidate must obtain within the first six (6) months of assignment: QA/QC Certification -Soils, Concrete and Hot Mix Asphalt.
