Job Description
Maryland Environmental Service Technical and Environmental Services (TES) Group has an opening for an Assistant Environmental Section Chief at the BWI Marshall Airport field office working in a dynamic environment providing leadership for the environmental specialist team. The position requires a working knowledge of project and personnel management. Daily responsibilities will include assisting the operations manager in the leadership of this section, managing on-site professional and technical staff, managing contracts and agreements, developing project tasks and new work opportunities, budget analysis, procurements, site safety, and other duties as assigned. This position will interact with environmental, maintenance, and operations staff, clients, contractors, and state agency project representatives.
This field office is a designated emergency essential facility, and therefore the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during adverse weather conditions may be required. Must have a valid driver's license with less than five (5) points, the ability to lift 50lbs, and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. This position requires the ability to obtain Homeland Security Clearance.
Estimated Pay Range: $77,789.80 - $106,960.7

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology, or a related field from an accredited college or university plus six years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering, or management; four years of which must have included experience managing environmental projects and supervising environmental professional and technical staff. Must be able to manage multiple projects and multiple subcontractors as assigned. Required to be self-disciplined in accomplishing tasks with minimal oversight and management. Must have compliance, contract, and budget management experience.
The preferred candidate will have experience with environmental compliance, environmental mitigation and remediation, and recycling & sustainability programs as well as working within a dynamic, high-demand environment. Preferred candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, contract, budget, reporting, and personnel management skills, including the ability to independently provide oversight, planning, and financial management support on a wide range of environmental projects.
