Job Description :
Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Engineering Section Chief in the Technical and Environmental Services (TES) Group. This position is located at MES Headquarters in Millersville, MD but may periodically work at other state agency locations in the Baltimore Metro area. As the Engineering Section Chief, you will be responsible for overseeing the TES engineering department, managing a team of engineers and technical staff, and ensuring the successful execution of projects. Your role will involve strategic planning, business development, client support, technical leadership, and expertise in stormwater modeling and hydraulics, in addition to engineering and construction management.
Responsibilities include mentoring and managing the TES engineering team, providing guidance and support, identifying and mitigating risks associated with engineering projects, overseeing applicable permits, and utilize modeling software to enhance project planning and execution to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. The desired candidate will have experience writing proposals to secure grant funding on behalf of clients for engineering projects.
Estimated Pay Range :
103,538.76 - $135,000

Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geotechnical, or other generally recognized field of engineering from an accredited college or university plus ten years of relevant engineering experience, five years of which included managing engineering projects and technical staff. A Professional Engineer Certification may be substituted for two years of the required experience. Master's degree in engineering or other relevant field may be substituted for two years of required experience. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
A highly desirable candidate will currently possess a Professional Engineer license within the state of Maryland and have demonstrated experience with modeling software, such as PCSWMM, GISHydro, HecRAS and GeoHecRAS. Strong verbal, technical writing, budgeting and organizational skills is also preferred.

Salary : $103,539 - $135,000
