POSITION SUMMARY:

The Workforce and Program Development Coordinator is responsible for managing the training approval process, overseeing professional development opportunities, and supporting the development and revision of workshops. Key responsibilities include reviewing and submitting training workshops to Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), collaborating with the data department to maintain an up-to-date system, and managing the Maryland Child Care Resource Network (MCCRN) training calendar and file storage. The role also involves coordinating and scheduling professional development for coaching and training staff, managing orientation for new staff, and supporting data analysis and reporting. Additionally, the coordinator will oversee workgroups, assist in organizing MCCRN meetings, and represent MCCRN at local and state conferences.


ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage the training approval process for the Maryland Child Care Resource Network, which includes:

  • Reviewing all CCRC submitted training workshops utilizing the MSDE approved rubric and overseeing any necessary revisions before submission to MSDE.
  • Collaborate with the data department to ensure the data system is updated with approved and retired workshops and associated trainers;
  • Review all credentials, complete necessary paperwork, and oversee the associated trainers for the MCCRN; and
  • Review all application packages for CCRC conferences, PDIs, and communities of practice for submission to MSDE.
  • Develop new or revise currently approved workshops as identified by the department, CCRCs, MSDE, or other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the CCRC training and coaching staff workgroups and committees.
  • Identify, schedule, and coordinate professional development opportunities for the coaching and training staff of the CCRCs which is aligned to and in support of the essential functions and services of the CCRCs.
  • Manage the Maryland Child Care Training Calendar system, including user review and approval, submission review and approval, and user support and guides, and coordinate data reporting and analysis with the data department.
  • Maintain the file storage system of all MCCRN related resources and materials, manage user access, and regularly review to ensure all files are current.
  • Assist with the scheduling and coordination for all MCCRN meetings, professional development, monitoring, and program related activities.
  • Manage the orientation and professional learning of new staff hired to perform essential training and coaching services at CCRCs in collaboration with the training department and utilizing the appropriate LMS and other resources.
  • Support the Department with data analysis and reporting to funders, stakeholders, and others as identified by MFN and department leadership.
  • Participate in local and state conferences in support of promoting MFN and CCRC services as identified by the Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Knowledge and passion for early childhood education, family support, and community development.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Maryland child care regulations (COMAR).
  • Significant knowledge and experience with the business aspects of operating child care programs, including family child care programs and centers.
  • Significant knowledge and experience of adult learning and effective coaching strategies.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a closely related field.
  • 4 years of experience in a licensed child care program or Pre-Kindergarten classroom in a public school setting.
  • 2 years as an MSDE-approved child care trainer or comparable experience in roles providing training and professional development to adult learners.
  • 2 years of experience providing coaching and support services to child care programs and professionals, Practice Based Coaching experience preferred.
