Title: Vice President, Accounting and Financial Reporting

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Direct reports: 5, Controller, 4 Accounting Managers

Total reports: 22

FLSA status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President, Accounting and Financial Reporting is accountable for corporate accounting, financial reporting and the associated compliance requirements for the company. This position drives accounting processes, departmental budgeting, as well as implementation and operational execution of accounting and financial reporting goals and priorities. The position interfaces closely with the company’s operations and infrastructure functions including information technology, business intelligence, team member services (infrastructure) and regional general managers (operations). An overarching responsibility is serving as a key thought partner and deputy to the Chief Financial Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Oversee the accounting function to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.

· Ensure that accounting staff maintain accounting and financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

· Maintain adequate internal controls to safeguard the assets of the company and ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.

· Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of accounting and financial reporting.

· Coordinate the monthly closing schedule and pre-release meeting with the back-office team.

· Review and approve the internal financial statements for the company each month.

· Coordinate the data requests and responses to the annual audit and tax return preparation.

· Develop, provide and update standards and training for the accounting and payroll teams to continuously improve execution of business processes and workflows.

· Assist the operations and infrastructure teams in establishing annual budgets; review and approve the budget for upload into the accounting system; monitor performance against budget targets.

· Serve as a key member of the core team for the ERP implementation, including selecting subject matter experts to contribute to the ERP implementation.

· Develop, implement and revise accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

· Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing execution and associated compliance requirements.

· Collaborate with all corporate departments to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions, proper expense allocation, and adherence to accounting principles.

· Evaluate and implement internal controls to mitigate risks and safeguard company assets.

· Assist the CFO in providing required compliance documents to banks, insurance providers, benefit providers, and other financial institutions.

· Develop and maintain relationships with tax authorities, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with tax laws and regulations.

· Assess and evaluate financial performance of the company, providing insight and guidance to support critical financial, program, and operational initiatives.

· Interview, hire, train and develop new employees within the accounting, financial reporting, credit and payroll functions.

· Plan, assign, direct and evaluate the work of a 20 person department, including rewarding team members and handling issues of poor performance, complaints, and complaints as needed.

· Drive ongoing commitment to the company’s culture among team members.

· Provide strategic recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer based on accounting and financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.

· In cooperation with the Chief Financial Officer, assist in engagement with the board on issues, trends, status and changes in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

· M.S. Accounting or Finance or MBA

· CPA

· Fifteen or more years of experience in accounting management positions in businesses with a manufacturing focus and emphasis on cost accounting and multi-facility financial reporting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

· Deep knowledge and understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.

· General knowledge of payroll processes and health, welfare and pension employee benefit plans.

· Demonstrated track record as an honest leader, consistently acting with the utmost integrity.

· Skill in multi-site financial reporting.

· Skill in leading with integrity while balancing being hands-on with delegated team development.

· Skill in overseeing and managing vendor/contractor relationships.

· Proficiency and experience with current information systems and technologies, including accounting systems, online payment systems, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $150,000.00 per year
