What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Researcher position at Mascoma LLC?
The Research Associate will join a team engineering yeast and bacteria with novel capabilities for use across Lallemand’s business units. The Research Associate will play a key role in developing and improving metabolic pathways to produce low carbon biochemicals. This position is based in Lebanon, NH and will report directly to the Project Manager. Responsibilities include:
· Designing molecular constructs, cloning, and genetic engineering of yeast
· Strain genotyping and phenotyping.
· Small scale growth assays and enzyme assays.
· Documenting experimental procedures and results.
Minimum Qualifications:
· B.A. / B.S. in biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related field.
· Experience in various molecular biology and microbiology procedures.
· Good troubleshooting skills to deal with technical problems.
· Experience in providing high quality, timely data.
· Desire to work as part of a team in a fast-paced biotech industry setting.
· Working knowledge of genetics and gene regulation.
Preferred in an ideal candidate:
· Hands-on experience in genetic engineering of bacteria or yeast
· Familiarity with microbial physiology, biochemistry, protein engineering, and metabolic engineering
· Familiarity with a range of synthetic biology techniques (e.g. Golden Gate / MoClo, Gibson Assembly)
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Lab experience outside of academic classes
