Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
To evaluate, prescribe and remediate students who meet State eligibility requirements for the Speech Language Impaired program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks

Implement screening procedures. Select appropriate screening instruments and adapt
screening procedures to all populations, efficiently score and interpret results and make
appropriate recommendations.
Selects and implements evaluation procedures. Independently selects an adequate assessment battery with consideration for all relevant factors and scores according to instrument guidelines.
Interprets and integrates test results and behavioral observations, synthesizes information gained from all sources, develops diagnostic impressions and makes recommendations.
Develops and implements specific, reasonable, and necessary Individual Education Plans which would include measurable long term goals and short term objectives.
Selects and uses intervention materials and information for remediation of communication and related disorders.
Plans and implements a program of periodic monitoring of the student’s communicative functioning through the use of appropriate data collection systems.
Interprets and uses data to modify educational plans to meet the needs of the student.
Schedules and prioritize direct and indirect service activities, maintains student records and documents attendance of assigned students.
Attends educational planning conferences or staffings as needed or requested.
Evaluates and monitors the use of and need for adaptive equipment pertaining to communication disorders.
Makes recommendations for the purchasing of supplies for their assigned schools. Maintain supplies, equipment and inventory.
Provides in-service on topics related to their area of therapy expertise.
Participate in any assignments, tasks, functions, or responsibilities relative to ESE programs as assigned by the Supervisor.
Attends departmental, school and district meetings/trainings as requested.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communication with school-based and district staff on professional, specific and general areas of students education.
Ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with both professional staff and school community.
Ability to organize and plan independently to deliver services.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to collect and analyze data.
Basic skills for the operation of computer systems.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Holds Florida Department of Education Certification in Speech Correction
Or
Holds or is eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in Speech Language Impaired
Or
Holds Florida Licensure for Speech Language Pathology.
