What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer - Starting Salary Certified $66,560.00/yr; $5,000.00 sign-on bonus position at Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation?
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Police Department is accepting applications from POSTC certified police officers. Out of state certified officers will be considered as long as they are eligible for comparative certification through POSTC. Certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Connecticut is pursuant to regulations promulgated by the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council.
At the direction of the Shift Sergeant or, in his or her absence, the ranking shift officer, the candidate performs general police duties, as a police officer, through the enforcement of Tribal, Federal and State laws and ordinances. A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required (post-secondary credits or degree in Law Enforcement or related field is a plus). Candidates must have a Valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License and the willingness to become CPR/First Aid Certified.
Candidates must have, or the ability to acquire, a working knowledge of Tribal, Federal and State laws and ordinances. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of motor vehicle law and traffic control, modern techniques of law enforcement, criminal investigations, and the ability to control and observe situations analytically and objectively, with the ability to document these incidents clearly and completely. Knowledge of the NexGen report writing system is a plus.
Candidates must successfully complete a written test, oral panel interview, a psychological interview, polygraph, and a medical exam including a drug screening. There will be an interview with the Chief of Police, outlining a willingness to engage with the community and promote a partnership with our associated enterprises.
