Mechanical Estimator - Job Description
Masis Professional Group is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator for a well-established and highly reputable commercial mechanical plumbing and HVAC company based in the Torrington, CT area. This is a full-time, direct-hire position. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the Plumbing and HVAC industry and will be responsible for overseeing project estimation from start to finish. This role involves researching potential projects, analyzing costs, and generating estimates, with a strong emphasis on communication and relationship-building with subcontractors, vendors, general contractors, and project owners.
Mechanical Estimator Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Estimating Department.
- Review project documents, blueprints, and specifications to prepare estimates.
- Estimate equipment, material costs, and labor required for commercial HVAC and plumbing projects.
- Communicate effectively with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and project owners.
- Review and interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and CAD drawings for accurate takeoffs.
- Obtain quotes from subcontractors and vendors for inclusion in bids.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for material buyouts.
- Develop project budgets and ensure they are adhered to.
- Attend bid meetings and site walkthroughs as needed.
- Ensure project estimates are completed within strict deadlines.
Mechanical Estimator Qualifications:
- Proven experience estimating projects valued at $5,000,000 or less.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial/industrial plumbing and HVAC estimation.
- Proficiency with Trimble/Quickpen or FastPipe (preferred).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and bids simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of CHRO requirements and set-aside plans.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of the bidding process within the Plumbing and HVAC industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF software.
- Experience with mechanical and plumbing equipment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Salary : $100,000 - $150,000
