Job Opening: Field Technician
Location: Mason and Smith Valley Conservation Districts, NV
Position Type: Full-Time
The Mason and Smith Valley Conservation Districts are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Field Technician to support our conservation efforts. This role involves hands-on fieldwork in arid and riparian areas, data collection, habitat restoration, invasive species management, and collaboration with our team to promote environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field studies, surveys, and collect environmental data (e.g., soil samples, vegetation inventories)
- Establish sampling sites and perform species identification
- Assist with invasive species removal, habitat restoration, and revegetation projects
- Utilize GIS and GPS technology for mapping and monitoring project sites
- Operate, maintain, and repair field equipment, tools, and vehicles
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and support community outreach efforts
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work in various outdoor conditions, including extreme weather and rough terrain
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Willingness to obtain a Pesticide Applicator License within three months of employment
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay: $14–$17 per hour, depending on experience
