Key Responsibilities of the Woodworking Production Manager
Operational Leadership:
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure timely and efficient production of pianos.
- Develop and implement production plans that align with company goals and customer demands.
- Monitor and prioritize workflow to meet production deadlines and optimize efficiency.
- Manage headcount for production workers within company policies to meet production plans.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Human Resources Management:
- Lead recruitment, hiring, training, and development initiatives for personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and implement employee development programs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations.
- Address employee complaints and resolve workplace issues effectively.
- Oversee payroll operations for employees.
Woodworking & Production Expertise:
- Utilize extensive knowledge of woodworking to oversee processes such as cutting, shaping, and assembling wood components.
- Monitor work performed and address situations that do not conform to standards.
- Learn and oversee the full piano production process throughout the factory.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular training sessions.
- Ensure the facility complies with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Maintain OSHA standards within the factory.
- Communicate and enforce company safety, compliance, and environmental requirements.
Quality Assurance:
- Maintain high-quality standards by implementing quality control processes and addressing any deviations promptly.
- Work closely with piano technicians and craftsmen to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Focus on driving safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven experience in woodworking or a closely related industry is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Access.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets.
- Commitment to fostering a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Understanding of CNC processes.
- Ability to be a "people person" and foster a positive work culture.
