Mason Harding is exclusively seeking a Director of Operations for a premium manufacturer of specialized chemicals in the Charlotte, NC area who proudly operate under continuous good manufacturing practices (cGMP).
Our client have invested heavily in their cGMP capabilities to supply custom solutions to the pharmaceutical, R&D and applied industrial fields, and are now seeking a proven operations leader to drive growth and profitability through effective management of safety, manufacturing, quality and supply chain operations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, you will have high visibility with executive management and autonomy to drive real impact and operational success in the business, with competitive salary, bonus, benefits and equity stake too!
Essential duties in this role
- Directly manage the operations team and oversee support functions.
- Ensure production schedules and equipment utilization meet current and future customer demands.
- Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring all facilities and plant equipment meet or exceed safety requirements.
- Lower costs through productivity and efficiency improvements by upgrading equipment and/or re-engineering manufacturing processes (Process Development).
- Work collaboratively with the Quality organization to maintain the cGMP quality system and ensure cGMP compliance.
- Work cross-functionally to develop, validate, and launch new cGMP products by leveraging existing manufacturing capabilities in the network.
- Support new investments in the cGMP network through analyses, site assessments, and management of new projects.
- Develop a long-term strategic plan with direction of short-term focused activities in order to attain financial goals.
What the ideal candidates brings to the table
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Chemistry, Business or Supply Chain Management. MBA is an asset.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in relevant cGMP production environments.
- Formal experience and/or certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma.
- Detailed understanding of inorganic salts and/or solutions manufacturing
- OSHA, HAZMAT, and other relevant regulatory experience required.
- Experience utilizing technology to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Previous management or leadership experience with a cross-functional production operation team.
- Strong quantitative skills with an emphasis on business and financial acumen
