What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Specialist position at Mason Manufacturing?
Reports to: Director of Operations/Controller
General Responsibilities
Manage the purchase of production materials, assemblies, and components as needed. Responsible for tactical and strategic activities involved with the purchase of critical production materials. Develop and implement cost reduction and sourcing strategies, leading to improved quality, and timely delivery performance. Provide detailed purchase orders to vendors to procure approved materials conforming to ASME code for shell and tube heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
Specific Responsibilities
Procurement Activities
· Review bill of materials and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
· Determine material quantities required based on bill of materials.
· Create purchase orders utilizing Computer Ease.
· Assign job number primary cost codes and actual costs for each material on purchase orders.
· Assign material delivery dates on purchase orders.
· Cross check material costs estimated in jobs with actual costs.
· Check material delivery required based on production schedule.
· Negotiate within the supply chain to develop prices, Kanban, and blanket purchase order agreements.
· Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
· Forecast upcoming material demand.
· Create requests for quotes.
· Work with manufacturing to evaluate stock run reports.
· Update bill of materials on S drive with PO numbers, due dates, and stock material M numbers.
· Copy PO’s to job file.
· Arrange shipping materials via UPS.
· Organize vendor visits for training purposes.
· Create purchase orders for goods and services rendered.
· Maintain Excel purchase order log file.
· Create purchase orders for machining materials.
· Complete purchase orders for trucking finished projects.
· Assure supply chain sources are capable of meeting and exceeding quality expectations, on time delivery, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
· Ability to understand and manage schedules, forecast, and communicate with the supply chain.
Vendor Relation Management
· Seek and select reliable vendors to provide quality materials at reasonable prices.
· Maintain vendor performance score cards.
Key Interfaces
· Communicate directly with all materials and services rendered vendors.
· Communicate internally with all departments.
Qualifications
· Business degree or minimum of five years experience in manufacturing planning, procurement or supply chain, or combination of relevant education and experience.
· Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
· Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
· Must have strong negotiation skills and knowledge of negotiation strategies.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
