Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Sommelier to join our team in delivering an exceptional dining experience. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of wines, including their origins, characteristics, and pairings with various cuisines. As a Sommelier, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our guests' dining experience through expert wine recommendations and impeccable service.
Responsibilities
- Curate and maintain an extensive wine list that complements the restaurant's menu.
- Provide expert wine pairings for guests based on their meal selections and personal preferences.
- Conduct wine tastings and educate staff on wine selections to enhance their knowledge and sales techniques.
- Manage inventory of wines, ensuring proper storage conditions and rotation of stock.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and optimal wine pairings.
- Assist in training staff on the proper service of wine, including decanting and glassware selection.
- Handle cash register operations and POS transactions accurately using Toast POS system.
- Support banquet and catering events by providing wine service and menu planning expertise.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Sommelier or in a similar role within the fine dining or food industry is preferred.
- Strong sales skills with a proven track record of increasing beverage sales through effective recommendations.
- Familiarity with cash register operations and experience using Toast POS or similar systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and an understanding of restaurant operations are beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage guests in discussions about wine selections.
