As a key member of our accounting team, you will play a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic oversight to support MassDevelopment’s mission of driving economic growth and community revitalization. Your expertise in managing internal controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting will help safeguard the organization’s financial integrity and support strategic decision-making. Your work will champion responsible resource allocation and financial sustainability, supporting high impact projects that fuel business expansion, infrastructure modernization, and inclusive economic development. In this dynamic role, you will shape financial strategies that drive scalability, equity, and long-term success across Massachusetts.

 

What You'll Do

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy in journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Maintain compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
  • Cash & Investment Management: Manage banking relationships, verify deposits, reconcile accounts, oversee cash flow, utility revenues, and investment transactions to support fiscal stability.
  • Audit & Risk Management: Provide audit support during interim and year-end processes, track variances, and recommend process enhancements to improve financial oversight.
  • Grants & Loan Disbursements: Coordinate with internal teams and manage financial transactions for grants, loans, and NMTC programs, ensuring proper reconciliation and reporting.
  • Strategic Financial Operations: Analyze and optimize financial workflows, collaborate with leadership on budgeting, and support data-driven decision-making to enhance efficiency and impact.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Serve as a financial liaison across departments, supporting property management, development projects, and economic initiatives to drive sustainable growth.

What We're Looking For

  • Education & Experience: You have 3-5 years of experience in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or a combination of training and professional experience.
  • Technical Expertise: You are proficient in financial reporting, reconciliation, auditing, and investment transactions, and have a strong knowledge of accounting principles and compliance standards.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: You can assess financial data, anticipate challenges, and implement solutions to improve financial processes.
  • Technology & Automation: You are experienced with accounting software, database management, and possess advanced Excel skills to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Project & Time Management: You can manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communication: You have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and provide financial guidance to stakeholders.
