ABOUT THE ROLE
The Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) is seeking a full-time Section Council Coordinator to join our team!
As an integral member of the MBA Membership and Programs team, the successful candidate will serve the MBA’s 18 substantive law section councils by providing administrative and logistical support for our volunteer section councils that are a key component of our member engagement and community-building strategy.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding organization skills and be able to juggle multiple activities with high attention to detail, as well as exceptional communication skills as this position is the central point of contact for MBA volunteer attorneys and judges statewide and MBA staff.
This is a full time, 35 hour week hybrid position with comprehensive benefits including vacation, health/dental insurance, 401k and match. This position is generally remote on Mondays and Friday and requires being available to work in our Boston office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until 7:00 p.m. as meetings are generally scheduled from 5-7 p.m. each week. Flexible hours may be arranged with your supervisor on days of meetings. The MBA remote work policy is subject to change based on organization needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meeting Management: Schedule, attend and manage 18 virtual (Zoom) or in-person meetings per month, including meeting notifications and follow up. Although most meetings are virtual, section councils are given the opportunity to hold two in-person meeting per year to kick off and close the association year.
- Metrics and Tracking: Capture and report on meeting metrics, including attendance and engagement levels.
- Volunteer Management: As the MBA staff liaison to the section councils, work closely with volunteers and share information between volunteers and staff after each meeting.
- Event Ideation: Collaborate with the MBA staff and volunteers to generate innovative event ideas for the section councils.
- Administration: Work directly with the MBA President-elect to facilitate the annual Section Council appointment process and manage additional requests throughout the year.
- Event Planning: Oversee the planning process, including developing event timelines, coordinating logistics and speaker invites for the annual Section Council Orientation.
- Special Projects: Assist with special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree with at least one year related work experience in event planning, marketing, membership or volunteer management preferred. Proficiency with Zoom and Microsoft Office is a must.
