Aspire is a program of Mass General Brigham that serves teens and young adults with social cognition challenges, including Asperger's Syndrome, High-Cognitive Autism, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, and autism spectrum disorder that focuses on helping teens develop increased self-awareness, social competency, and stress management skills. The Group Leader works at Aspire's Explorations Summer Program for teens aged 14-19, based in Newton. The Group Leader oversees a group of approximately 6-8 teenagers and provides support during community outings and structured program activities and facilitates participation within the group. Tasks of the role include leading program activities; implementing interventions, supports, and strategies for program participants; managing communications with families; maintaining accurate timekeeping and record keeping; and complying with program policies and procedures.

1 . Attend a 40-hour orientation, all staff meetings, trainings, supervision, planning sessions, and every day of the program as scheduled.

2 . Attend all required participant and family meetings, including orientation and parent conferences.

3. Maintain the health and safety of program participants and staff at all times.

4 . Manage medication administration based on provided training.

5 . Complete evaluation forms, incident reports, end-of-program reports, and other assigned paperwork in a timely manner. Maintain records and documentation outlined in the Policies and Procedures manual.

6 . Maintain the rules of confidentiality and all HIPAA expectations.

7. Collaborate with Aspire leadership staff to problem-solve social interaction, behavioral, and programmatic issues.

8. Collaborate with staff to develop and implement therapeutic interventions, e.g. social stories, behavior support plans, etc. Work with staff in the planning and presentation of such lessons.

9. Respect the rules and regulations set forth by collaborating agencies; this includes work sites, Hale Reservation and other community spaces that Aspire shares and visits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Degree : Bachelor's DegreeField of Study : Enrolled in or graduate of undergraduate program in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, or other mental health field.

Required or Preferred

Work Experience

Prior experience working with neurodivergent children and / or adolescents Required or Preferred

Have current First Aid / CPR certification.Training can be accessed through Aspire. Required or Preferred
