The Massachusetts Maritime Academy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Assistant Director, Mariner Credentialing. As a key member of the credentialing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing US Coast Guard licensing records, teaching and assessing STCW classes, interacting with students to assist them on their path towards becoming licensed mariners, engaging with faculty to ensure timely and proper data input, and updating software and preparing for the Coast Guard's audit every five years.
This role requires a strong background in marine transportation and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Marine Transportation and an unlimited tonnage deck or engine license. Proficiency in computer and software literacy, data management, and record-keeping is also essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience with software systems commonly used in higher education, a background in higher education and/or past teaching experience, familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations, SOLAS, and STCW Code, and at least three years of experience sailing commercially as a licensed officer.
