Under the direction of the Athletics Director, the Coordinator of Athletics is responsible for coordinating athletic activities, providing athletics information, student counseling, scheduling athletic activities and use of athletic facilities, and tracking athletic progress of athletes. Also responsible for coordination of assigned staff. Performs related work as directed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- The Coordinator of Athletics manages all college recreational, intramural, and intercollegiate athletics to include promoting athletic programs and participation, coordinating scheduling of athletic activities and use of athletic facilities, contributing to long-term facility planning recommendations, developing/implementing policies, procedures and budget priorities.
- Provides athletics information to students, athletes, fans, and the public with information on recreation, use of facilities to individuals/groups within the community, publishing schedules, programs, athletic news, and press releases.
- Provides athletic, academic, and career counseling/advising to student athletes; tracks academic progress of athletes; and counsel students and athletes as needed.
- Provides athletic, academic, and career counseling to student athletes to include tracking academic progress of athletes and ensuring student athletes remain academically eligible to train and compete.
- Assists, as needed, with inventory control, care, and maintenance of athletic equipment and facilities by coordinating maintenance and upkeep of athletic facilities to ensure the safety of all students, staff, faculty and guests of the college.
- Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities and works in coordination with all college departments as called for to support Athletics.
- Interact with various external agencies/individuals serving as a representative of the college Athletics Department at conferences, community events, and other academic institutions.
- Coordinate activities of assigned staff under the direction of the Athletics Director to ensure personnel are allocated in such a manner to address the varied prioritized needs of the Department.
- Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas researching new trends and advances in the profession by reading professional literature, attending workshops or training sessions.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Physical Education or closely related field.
- 5 years' experience and/or training that includes sports education, athletic program administration, and athletic/academic counseling;
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Academic counseling experience specifically as it relates to student-athletes.
- Familiarity with NJCAA and NCAA rules pertaining to student-athlete eligibility.
- Experience coordinating the duties of assigned staff such as work-study students and part-time employees in a higher ed environment
- Ability to work some nights and weekends

- Demonstrated experience managing and supervising small teams
- Experience with website development and upkeep
- Ability to develop consensus and work effectively as a team member
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships increasing the visibility of the Athletic Department
- Strong problem solving, leadership, organizational skills and oral/written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population
- Commitment to community college mission
- Proficiency in a foreign language preferably Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Portuguese

Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Salary: $77,358 - $86,509 Grade 6. Salary is commensurate with education, experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
