What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for Law Student position at MassHealth PCA Program?
I'm a male law student in his 20s with Muscular Dystrophy and wheelchair user and I'm looking for responsible and compassionate people to assist me with my activities of daily living both during the week and weekends. I'm looking for people for shifts weekends and the night.
For my morning routine, I'll need help with:
-Transferring between bed, toilet, shower chair, and wheelchair using a Hoyer lift
-Dressing
-Helping me get to class and get my computer/books
During the day and evening, I'll need help with:
-Using the bathroom (hand held urinal)
-Basic meal prep
-Helping me get to class/accompany me places and get my computer/books
-The daytime shift will have lots of downtime as I will be in class. I will need someone on a more on call basis. This could be a great opportunity for a student
For the night routine, I'll need help with:
-Transferring into bed
-Assist with bathroom (hand held urinal)
-Helping me to put on CPAP mask
-Repositioning several times per night
The daytime shifts on weekdays and weekends will have considerable down time during the day as I will need help on a more on call basis.
Preference for current or future student in a medically-related career (e.g. nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, pre-medicine, special education).
Applicants do not need any particular work experience or background in personal care, just willingness to learn.
Background and reference checks will be done and should be able to produce documentation that they are legally able to work in the United States.
