Responsibilities
Byers Engineering, a MasTec company, is seeking a full-time Outside Plant Permitting Manager in support of a large-scale Telecommunications project.
An Outside Plant Permitting Manager serves as an integral member of the engineering team and will contribute to the success of our initiatives by permitting, overseeing the permit process and obtaining appropriate approvals. Requires knowledge of municipal processes, codes and ordinances, as well as frequent interface with local governments and jurisdictions. Must have good organization, professional communication, time management and relationship building skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- QA Permit Drawings before Permit Specialists to ensure accuracy.
- Constant open communication with Permit Creation staff.
- Close monitoring of daily activities, work schedules and submittals of specialists.
- Coordinate with other internal and external stakeholders ensuring compliance with project requirements
- Act as an advisor to the engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations
- Manage subcontracted engineering vendor
- Ensure that all applicable trackers are kept up to date (Internal & Client), tracking submittals, communication/feedback, rejections/redlines and approvals.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with the city, county, and state municipalities relating to permitting and develop relationships with various permitting agencies.
- Understand permitting code and policy.
Qualifications
Desired Skills:
- Sound OSP engineering experience deploying fiber optic networks - Knowledge of engineering principles within OSP job related functional area including general practices, procedures and industry standards.
- Experience working with local city, county, and state municipalities relating to permitting and develop relationships with various permitting agencies in the great Tampa area.
- Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics in a high density fiber environment.
- Experience working all aspects of telecom with knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards.
- Knowledge of engineering tools including AutoCAD, OCalc, 3-GIS,or any similar GIS/KMZ platforms.
- Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive.
- Excellent communication for daily interaction with the customer and various teams
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and completed courses from technical school or community college preferred, but not required
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Qualify on pre-employment screening, including non-negligent driving record
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Willing to be trained and adapt to changing industry trends- continue education for Engineering design and best practices

- Requires outdoor site visits in various weather conditions remote work
- Dress appropriately and meet safety standards while on-site
