Position Summary
The Director of Engineering is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and enhancing the operational aspects of the Engineering Department. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating engineering activities to ensure the effective design, development, production, and improvement of projects. The Director will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and customer outreach specialists focused on electrical distribution construction and design, and will ensure the optimal use of resources while aligning engineering functions with corporate goals and standards.
Responsibilities
- Project Coordination and Direction :
Develop and implement detailed project plans to achieve engineering goals.
Lead and manage a diverse team of design engineers, scientists, and customer outreach specialists.
Evaluate client needs to determine the technical and financial feasibility of proposed solutions.
Realign engineering functions with corporate objectives and industry standards.
Monitor and track the progress of engineering projects to ensure timely and successful completion.
Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency.
Identify and resolve technical issues that may arise during project development and execution.
Confer with management and production staff to discuss project specifications and procedural requirements.
Perform administrative duties including report writing, expenditure approvals, and material / service procurement.
Set departmental goals within the framework provided by top management.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.

This position operates in both a professional office environment and on project sites. It requires light exertion, including some filing or lifting (up to 20 pounds).
