The Engineering Material Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of design build projects. The responsibilities of this position involve maintaining the company’s purchasing parts catalog as well as collaborating and coordinating with the engineering teams, suppliers, and shipyard production to ensure that materials are available when needed without causing delays or overspending.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain shipyard’s procurement parts catalog through the creation of item numbers in support of Bill Of Material (BOM) development and purchasing activities
- Source materials from vendors, ensuring they meet technical specifications and quality standards.
- Work closely with procurement teams to negotiate prices and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to determine material requirements based on project schedules.
- Develop and help maintain material tracking systems.
- Assist with resolving any logistics issues, such as delays or damaged goods.
- Maintain records of material usage, costs, and supplier performance.
- Ensure all materials meet project specifications and standards.
- Work with quality assurance teams to address any non-compliance issues.
- Act as the point of contact between engineering teams and suppliers.
- Resolve discrepancies between order specifications and deliveries.
-Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with engineering materials, standards, and specifications.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for effective coordination and negotiation.

Education and Experience:
- A degree or diploma in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- 2-5 years of experience with Material Coordination within an Engineering setting.
- Prior shipyard experience a plus
