SUMMARY
Responsible for directly leading, facilitating, and coordinating with partner agencies to deliver onsite educational and support services to meet the needs of families enrolled in Eastside Shelter. Coordinates volunteerism and in-kind donations in support of Eastside Shelter.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Client Services
- Engages with clients of Eastside Shelter to identify preferences and needs for training and other services; Collaborates with Case Management Team to plan training offerings that best support goals of clients.
- Identifies, recruits, coordinates, and engages with partner agencies and other community resources to deliver onsite educational and support services to meet the needs of the families.
- Develops mental health and support groups, and educational offerings on financial literacy and housing readiness, working with partner agencies and trained volunteers.
- Functions as part of the larger team responsible for achieving the target goals of improving safety, permanency, and well-being of children, youth, and families.
- Serves as the coordinator and facilitator of Wellness Workshops.
- Directly leads or facilitates Wellness Workshops other support groups.
- Assists with the recruitment and training of peer facilitators for Parent workshops.
- Coordinates family trips and activities to promote the family's well-being.
Volunteers and In-Kind Donations
- Responsible for the recruitment, scheduling, retention, and management of volunteers at Eastside Shelter.
- Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers at Eastside Shelter
- Manages any issues regarding volunteers including volunteer behavior, conflicts between volunteers and staff, and attendance.
- Maintains Volgistics database of volunteers and community partners, tracks volunteer hours, in-kind donations and attends monthly meetings with volunteer coordinators in other programs.
- Coordinates volunteer recognition activities for Eastside Shelter.
- Communicates regularly with the Development Department to promote activities.
- Solicits for In Kind donations for the shelter program and the families served and ensures that resources are properly allocated, utilized and reported.
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Promotes the programs and services offered throughout SVDP and provides guidance and feedback to program leadership to help address the unique issues, concerns, and needs of the program.
- Promotes an atmosphere of care, respect, and support among guests, volunteers and staff in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Assists with and attend special events held by St. Vincent de Paul as necessary.
- Upholds the vision, mission, and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Meets regularly with supervisor and attends all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed.
- Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience working with, and sensitive to the needs and concerns of persons who are materially poor and/or homeless, required.
- Associate's Degree with relevant years of experience will be considered.
- Ability to be comfortable working with persons of all socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
- Experience in crisis intervention, behavior management, and/or conflict resolution.
- An understanding and respect for the confidentiality of clients.
- Good organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to facilitate reflective and educational discussion with individuals and groups.
