Job Summary:
This Manager role brings out the best in your people skills and construction contributions while supporting interactions with our subcontractors and performing light-to-medium construction tasks. If you’re tired of the handyman hustle, bored with a single trace or have a passion for helping people with residential construction and have a great way with people, this might be the role for you!
The ideal candidate will have construction knowledge and hands-on experience with a willingness to learn and grow through exceptional work and contribution. In order to do this, a candidate should be a good listener, be detail-oriented, flexible, and provide top-notch service to homeowners.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- By reading scopes provided to the Construction Team, you work to coordinate sub contractors and serve our homeowner clients by keeping the jobs rolling.
- In support of this, you will deliver materials (as needed) to jobsites and be aware of the progress being made.
- Relay observations of the work being performed for customers and ensure the best quality construction work is the impression we leave behind. Good communication and taking pictures of progress are a requirement.
- Document any issues found, work with your construction management and the subcontractors to resolve any issues..
General Maintenance & Repairs:
- Handle miscellaneous maintenance and repair tasks as needed to support closing out customer jobs.
- Perform repairs to framing, drywall, paint, flooring, and other aspects of the home as needed.
Customer Service & Communication:
- Communicate directly with homeowners to understand any issues or concerns they may have regarding the condition of their homes.
- Provide clear explanations of the work to be done, offering excellent customer service and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Take pride in ensuring completion list/punch list tasks are finished and lead customers on walk through of their improved home.
Tool & Equipment Management:
- Maintain and ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Use tools safely and responsibly, following all safety protocols and company guidelines.
Site Cleanliness & Safety:
- Ensure job sites are clean and organized during and after every job, maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations to avoid accidents and injuries.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years (education may replace some experience) of demonstrable experience in carpentry, handyman services, or a related field or residential construction trade.
- Experience in both residential construction and general home maintenance is required.
- Experience with framing, trim carpentry, door/window adjustments, and home repairs is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Organization skills and the ability to communicate using phone, email and use of the internet to share progress, scan receipts/invoices and generally ensuring the company tracks progress, costs and stays informed from the information you share.
- Good to Strong understanding of construction and maintenance techniques, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients/homeowners and team members.
Tools & Equipment:
- Familiarity with standard carpentry tools (saws, drills, hammers, etc.) and maintenance tools.
- Must have own basic set of tools (company may provide larger equipment if needed).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and tools (up to 50 lbs.)
- Ability to work in various weather conditions when required for home maintenance tasks.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; formal training or apprenticeship is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position, with work typically performed Monday through Friday, but some flexibility in scheduling may be required depending on client needs and the emergencies we respond to.
- The role will involve travel to various job sites, including homes built by the company, so a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- Some work may involve lifting, climbing, or working in confined spaces.
