Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Attendance and Compliance ensures that all schools are effectively implementing the network’s attendance response system, implementing tiered interventions and supports, connecting families with community resources, and working across network departments to address system barriers to consistent school attendance. Responsible for supporting schools in their efforts to develop programming designed to increase student attendance, expand collaboration opportunities with families, ensure compliance with state and district policies around school culture and climate. Reporting to, and working closely with the Senior Director and Director of School Culture, this person will collaborate with other Network Support Team (NST) staff, school-based personnel, local district offices, and community partners to ensure alignment of resources to meet the needs of our students and families (as it relates to attendance, and family engagement).

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide outreach to families to address attendance and truancy interventions in alignment with PA and NJ law. This includes conducting truancy elimination meetings, home visits, truancy court preparation and appearances, and ongoing attendance communication to families.
- Ensure that schools’ goals related to attendance, truancy, and lateness are met or exceeded based on bi-weekly monitoring and implementation support of network’s attendance response systems. Schools are required to meet goals specific to reducing chronic absenteeism, truancy, and lateness.
- Provide support and professional development to attendance coordinators and culture teams to support attendance response implementation.
- Conduct regular data analysis to monitor the effective of attendance interventions and support schools in revising plans as needed.
- Maintain a caseload of targeted at-risk students and families to support meeting attendance goals.
- Work in collaboration with school-based social work teams to support improved attendance for chronically absent students.
- Liaise with district and community partners to ensure identify community supports for at risk families.
- Responsible for the completion of New Jersey Student Safety Data System reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with the compliance officer on Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) investigation policies, procedures, and execution across all NJ schools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including families, school staff, and community partners.
- Knowledge of PA and NJ attendance and enrollment policies and the ability to ensure compliance.
- Experience implementing attendance interventions and truancy prevention strategies.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective presentation and facilitation skills for training and professional development sessions.
- Ability to analyze attendance data and develop data-driven action plans.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems, Student Information Systems, Excel, and Google tools.
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with families to support student success.
- Ability to develop partnerships with community organizations to support student attendance and engagement.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Bilingual in Spanish (required), with the ability to facilitate family attendance meetings in both English and Spanish.
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field (preferred).
- At least 4 years of experience in attendance intervention, compliance, student support services, or a related field. Preferred at least 2 years of experience overseeing attendance strategies, compliance programs, or family engagement initiatives.
- Experience working with marginalized youth and families in educational or community-based settings.
- Experience collaborating with community agencies, social services, or advocacy organizations in Philadelphia.
- Knowledge of New Jersey State Law on Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB); Anti-Bullying Specialist certification preferred.
- Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role – either on-site or remotely (as indicated), and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as: traveling to network campuses; maneuvering in office spaces (including standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away); stooping, kneeling, reaching file cabinets/shelves; fine finger and hand manipulation in use of computer, chalkboard, dry erase, &/or projectors; filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; sitting for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse, and typing.
- Position requires local travel to Mastery and other sites. Must have access to reliable transportation.
