What are the responsibilities and job description for the Control Panel Technician position at Matador instrument and electrical?
Matador Instrument and Electrical is seeking a Control Panel/Shop Technician. The Control Panel Technician is responsible for building and wiring control panels using ladder logic and wiring diagrams, integrating HMI and PLC systems into industrial assemblies, and collaborating with welders, electricians, and technicians on various projects including panels, ehouses, etc… The ability to progress the shop to a UL 508 Certification is a plus and provides added growth opportunity.
Qualifications:
- Build and wire control panels using ladder logic and wiring diagrams.
- Integrate HMI and PLC systems into industrial assemblies.
- Collaborate with welders, machinists, and technicians on various projects.
- Experience designing the layout and building out exterior control panels with various components like surge arresters, transformers, relays, network switches, PLC, etc.
- Technical school attendance/certification a plus.
- Experience with UL Certifications a plus
- Experience as (Manufacturer Technical Representative (MTR) a plus
- Ability to understand and work from schematics.
- Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers, management.
- Willing to work 40 – 60 hours per week
- Contributes positively to the productivity of the crew helping to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Exhibits persistence and overcomes obstacles while seeking increased responsibilities
- Works with limited to no supervision and manages daily paperwork (field tickets, time sheets and Jobsite Safety Analyses)
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Intense focus on detail and maintain a safe working environment
- A strong sense of urgency and bias for action.
- Unyielding integrity/ethics.
Working Conditions and Requirements:
- Repetitively standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching over shoulder height, and climbing ladders up to 20 feet. Occasionally lifting to 50 lbs with or without assistance
- Subject to callouts to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays
- Work in and around industrial and construction settings, which may include hazardous products, processes, materials, and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and may require appropriate personal protective equipment
- Reliable attendance at work
- Occasional overnight travel and extended hours may be required
