What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Attendant (Thousand Hour) position at Matanuska-Susitna Borough?
This position is responsible for the feeding and care of animals and for the cleaning of animal kennels. Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.
D1 - DOE
High School diploma or equivalent.
Less than one year of experience. Relevant experience may include jobs that used the following skills: animal handling/animal care, custodial duties, interpersonal skills, teamwork, problem solving and following safety protocols.
Must complete a baseline audiometry screening and will be required to undergo annual testing as part of the Animal Shelter’s Hearing Conservation Program.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and physical.
Completion of required Incident Command System (ICS) courses in accordance with established Borough policy.
- Advises Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician concerning any injured or ill animals.
- Feeds and waters shelter animals.
- Cleans and disinfects kennels.
- Performs related duties.
