Key Responsibilities
These are the key responsibilities of a Restorative Instructional Assistant. Restorative Instructional Assistants may have other duties as assigned.
- Assist in the implementation of restorative practices and conflict resolution strategies with students
- Provide support in the classroom under the direction of the teacher to facilitate student learning and engagement
- Collaborate with educators and school staff to develop and execute individualized academic and behavioral support plans
- Monitor and support students during transitions, including lunch, and dismissal
- Assist with academic assessments and record-keeping as directed
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment by promoting empathy, responsibility, and accountability
- Support students in building self-regulation skills and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational or restorative setting, is highly desirable
- Knowledge of restorative practices and/or social-emotional learning is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, flexibility, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on students' lives
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Successful completion of a background check is required prior to employment
