Job Description:
Repair, Rebuild or Overhaul Production and Mechanical Equipment
This position is responsible for the repair, rebuilding, and overhaul of all types of production and mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in tool and die making, programming CNC machines, and maintaining proper job documentation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design new parts to meet specific requirements.
- Repair, rebuild, or overhaul manufacturing equipment based on instructions.
- Read and interpret blueprints to plan setup and operation of machine shop tools.
- Plan setups and operate typical machine shop tools to produce parts with precise tolerances.
- Make standard shop computations related to work dimensions, tooling, feeds, and speed of machining.
- Select materials and equipment necessary to fit and assemble parts into mechanical equipment.
- Conduct all work in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
Organization Relationship:
The incumbent reports directly to the Plant Manager and Production Supervisor.
Qualification Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in tool and die making in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to read blueprints.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations and ability to operate and maintain tool and die shop equipment.
Physical Demands:
- The physical demands of this job include regular talking and hearing, frequent use of hands, and occasional climbing or balancing.
- Lifting frequency includes occasional heavy lifting (100 lbs. maximum) and frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- The work environment characteristics include frequent work near moving mechanical parts, moderate risk of electric shock, and occasionally working near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
Skill and Knowledge Required:
- Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
