JOB TITLE - Lead Plant Operator
The HYCO LeadOperator is responsible for the over site for day-to-day operations of theplant. Ensures that all production, quality and schedules requirements are met.Creates a culture that supports the Matheson Spirit with shift employees. Leadscontinuous improvement by supporting the employee training programs. Providingclear communication with the other three shifts, Maintenance Technicians andSite Management. Ensuring a safe work environment for employees. Assist inperforming root cause analysis when issues arise and ensuring they arecorrected.
Essential Functions
Principal Responsibilities Safety
- Understand and adhere to companysafe work policies.
- Follow Lone WorkerRequirements.
- Promote a safe workenvironment.
- Report safety incidents andnear misses.
- Report any unsafeconditions, environmental concerns and process problems to managementimmediately.
- Contribute to theimprovement of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality programs.
- Apply the HWP process, LOTOand energy isolation procedures as required for company and contractor personnel.
- Follow EMOC procedure forall changes to process and operating procedures.
- Maintain site security.
- Maintain site orderliness.
- Perform safetyindoctrinations for contractors.
- Reliability, UtilizeComputerized Maintenance Management System to execute, document andcontinuously improve equipment preventative and corrective maintenancestrategy.
- Support Area Manager,Utilize Web based programs (TBD) to execute, document all corrective actionsissued to the site from Audits and Incidents review (when applicable).
- Collect and interpret trendsin equipment condition monitoring data.
- Maintain plant sparesinventory and raise gaps to management attention.
- Follow work instructions andannotate with feedback.
- Perform and document processand product analyzers calibration checks.
- Set up and safely operateall tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work. ProcessOperation and Efficiency
- Perform Shutdowns,Start-ups, and production rate changes for plant(s) in area.
- Monitor key processvariables and maintain plant(s) in efficient steady state operation.
- Troubleshoot processproblems to identify equipment requiring maintenance.
- Understand the cooling watertreatment chemistry and perform water treatment tasks. Administrative andManagerial
- Follow all Quality Controlrequirements to ensure a quality product is delivered to Matheson's customers.Meet FDA requirements where applicable.
- Follow all Environmentalguidelines and reporting requirements to ensure all applicable regulations arefollowed.
- Document in plant logbookdate and time of all machinery start / stops, analyzer calibrations, processupsets, product losses, customer complaints, or any other major event(s).
- Maintain open continuousline of communication with all HYCO Managers.
- Complete required SHE siteand safety equipment inspection forms.
- Maintain orderly and cleanwork in workshop and plant process areas.
- Direct and monitorcontractors.
- Maintain production logs,perform operations data entry into Process Operation Record system.
- Lead and participate in operationsand safety meetings.
- Participate in safetycommittee activities as required - drill planning, energy isolation reviews,etc.
- Complete all trainingactivities according to schedule and meet annual performance goals.
- Support entry level OperationsTechnicians through coaching and mentoring.
- Check business email daily.
- Interface with Customer'sOperations Team regarding Process Operations Changes and Safety related issues.
- Accept On call duty andovertime as required.
- Effectively prioritize andhelp to plan all maintenance work activities and operations schedules.
- Support sites outside of thehome Area as required.
- Support plant and equipmentcommissioning activities.
- Mark-up engineering drawingsto document changes or disparities.

Education
Associate's degree or Equivalent Experience required
Work Experience
4-6 Years minimum experience required
