What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Accounting Clerk (FT/OKC) position at Mathis Brothers?
EXAMPLES OF WORKED PERFORMED :
- Assist Payroll Accountant with maintaining payroll general ledger accounts
- Assist with the compiling of information and prepare journal entries for each payroll (semi-monthly & weekly)
- Perform reconciliation for various accounts
- Prepare accounting entries and payroll reports and statements to ensure payroll information is accurate and precisely reflected
- Utilize accounting principles to report employee earnings, such as salaries, wages, bonuses, overtime, and payroll taxes, as well as employer paid benefits, such as vacation, holidays, sick time, PTO, medical, state unemployment, etc
- Work with Risk Management to complete workers compensation reports, prepare monthly billing statements
- Compile Sales Managers' commission reports for each payroll
- Assist with the input of payroll information into HRIS
- Solve problems concerning payroll and answer questions employees have
- Assist with the set-up of payroll advances and auto allowance
- Download multiple reports and produce extensive reports related to payroll, including, but not limited to cash requirement sheets, 401(k) reports, executive payroll summaries, etc
- Compile information on an annual basis for auditors as needed
- Prepare the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports each month as needed
- Review quarterly payroll tax reports alongside the Payroll Accountant to ensure the reports match payroll date recorded
- Prepare annual 401k census reports
- Preparing journal entries to record payroll reimbursements between companies
- Prepare entries to reallocate wages between stores for employees working in multiple locations
- Verify W-3 summary information
- Serve as the intermediary between the Accounting and Tax departments and the payroll department, producing reports as needed for each functional area
- Research payroll anomalies as requested by management, including management of other departments
- Back up other human resource staff as needed
- Perform any other duties as directed by management

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS : Bachelor's degree required; job requires knowledge of generally accepted principles and practices and laws related to payroll (including earnings / wages, tips, bonus information, legally allowed deductions, etc.), taxes, and benefits (employee and employer paid); experience in all areas of payroll; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required; experience in service industry payroll / accounting practices preferred (not required); excellent communication skills both verbal and written; ability to handle confidential information; knowledge of employment and safety procedures.
