What are the responsibilities and job description for the BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR position at Mathis Home?
COMPENSATION: $49,000- $60,000
SCHEDULE: M-F, 8am to 5pm
EXAMPLES OF WORKED PERFORMED:
- Assist in the management of the benefit plan renewal process;
- Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
- Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
- Work effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly. Investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations.
- Monitor administrative costs of benefit programs and recommend cost containment strategies including alternative methods for administration and funding to supervisor.
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Assure timeliness and accuracy of required filings.
- Develop long-range objectives regarding benefit programs in conjunction with HR Manager and Director of HR.
- Coordinate daily benefit processing; Enrollments, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDRO’s, QMCSO’s, and hardships
- Maintain employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records; Data entry in multiple systems based on employee elections or status changes.
- Ensure employee coverage changes are updated with vendors in a timely manner.
- Process medical support orders.
- Analyze the current benefits, evaluating the usage, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs and identify the company’s stance.
- Assist in forecasting trends and assist with future benefit designs.
- Develop specific recommendations of possible new benefits or insurance carriers for review by management.
- Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.
- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits package.
- Design and distribute materials for benefit orientations and open enrollment.
- Create and conduct presentations using audiovisual tools including power point and videos.
- Provide training and support.
- Assist with FMLA and ADA interactive process.
- Back up other human resource staff as needed.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Bachelor degree preferred; three to five years experience in benefits; experience in all phases of benefits; must have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; PHR preferred; Project and team management/leadership skills and experience. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates. Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines. Knowledge of benefit contract language. Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Medicare, and Social Security and DOL requirements. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; ability to handle confidential information; must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license with no more than 2 moving violations or 1 chargeable accident within the past three years; knowledge of employment, merchandise handling, and safety procedures.
