Position Title: Mill Utility
Location: Brownville
Description:
Our Mill Utility position supports Mativ's PKGSP - Packaging & Specialty Papers team, at our Brownville, NY Mill a Mativ company ("Mativ"). The Mill Utilityposition is responsible for performing all tasks associated with supporting manufacturing operations on the paper machine, and/or coater, and/or inspection winder. Responsibilities include transporting and staging rolls, threading of machines, making saturants, coatings and general housekeeping. This is an onsite position and involves rotating shift work.
responsibilities:
- Conduct self and job tasks in a safe manner following proper work procedures.
- Perform and document inspections.
- Monitor and stock operating supplies as needed or directed, cores, pallets, wrap, etc.
- Move rolls from Machine, Calendar and Rewinder areas
- Collect scrap and waste from process to bale
- General housekeeping
- Assist the Rewinder crew in preparing production materials
- Keep work area and machinery clean, neat, organized, and free of any safety hazards.
qualifications
Required
- 1 Year Machine Operating experience in a manufacturing environmentpreferred
- Mechanical Aptituderequired
- Basic Math, Reading and Writing skillsrequired
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendancerequired
- Ability to use a ruler or other measurement tools to ensure products meet customer expectations
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Ability to work shiftwork and weekends as needed
- Ability to work twelve (12) hours or more per day when needed
- Ability to respond to call-ins at any time of day or night when needed
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat and stoop
- Ability to read and understand instructions, procedures, and equipment training manuals
- Ability to accurately read and record data
- Ability to climb stairs, steps, ladders, scaffolds, mobile lifts and elevator platforms
- Ability to operate/use manual and powered material handling equipment such as handdolly, chain fall, chain hoist, electric hoist, fork truck
- Ability to learn and utilize computer-based systems
- All applicants must pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen
Position Demands
Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment:
- Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot.
- Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
- May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards.
Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:
- Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
- Safety Glasses
- Protective Gloves, when performing certain tasks
- Hearing Protection
- Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks.
While performing the duties of this job the employee must meet the physical demands:
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Be able to work 12-hour shifts.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
- Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
- Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate PIV's
