Position Title: Senior Training Specialist
Location: Whiting Mill
Description:
Our Training Specialist supports Mativ's Sustainable and Adhesive Solutions (SAS) team at the Whiting Mill located in Stevens Point, WI. This individual will work on site to provide training expertise and labor scheduling for the site's operations team. The selected individual will demonstrate an ability to analyze upcoming scheduling challenges and mitigate them before they can negatively impact the business.
responsibilities:
Schedules labor and advances training objectives for Whiting Mill.
- Creates labor schedule for mill's union workforce while adhering to labor laws, company policies and collective bargaining agreement requirements. Prioritizes safety of our people above all else.
- Analyzes upcoming labor scheduling challenges and eliminates them before they can impact the mill.
- Modifies employee schedules and information in ADP.
- Maintains accurate records of completed training, and communicates to Human Resources when changes in pay are required.
- Monitors trainee progress in on-the-job training through routine check-ins, and keeps management team informed about trainee evaluations.
- Supervises mill Training department, which includes one Training Administrator and one Technical Writer. Proactively works to involve the Training department in any initiative that furthers safety, quality and production.
- Oversees successful implementation and administration of AssurX document management solution.
- Organizes outside training with vendors when needed.
- Maintains positive working relationship with mill's union board.
- Completes other projects as assigned.
qualifications:
Required
- Demonstrates that safety is the mill's highest priority in all decision making.
- 5 years of experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Must work on site.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Demonstrates a passion for training and a willingness to modify training practices when needed and share learnings.
- Has utilized a learning management system or document management system.
- Has utilized ADP or other similar payroll and scheduling software.
- Occasional travel to other sites is required.
Preferred
- Minimum of an Associate degree preferred.
- Background in scheduling a Union shop.
- Experience designing and/or managing a learning management system.
- Experience organizing and booking professional trainers.
- Support mill leadership during negotiations as requested.
Competencies
- Strong computer skills including, but not limited to a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio. Experience with Oracle and ADP is helpful.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to communicate within all levels of the organization.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
