A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN BUYER
As a Buyer, you are responsible for preparing and placing purchase orders for standard and non-standard materials, products and services. You negotiate terms and conditions with assigned suppliers covering method of delivery, delivery date, price, discount, freight payment, warranty period, etc. You are adept in ERP systems assisting with data entry and ensuring appropriate resolution of exception messages.
When procuring requisitioned items, you are always maintaining awareness of economic and business situations and monitoring industry trends. You develop and maintain key supplier relationships and communicate with current and prospective suppliers to best meet the requirements of the company and customers. You are accountable for controlling, monitoring and analyzing supplier quality and on-time delivery.
In this position, you have the opportunity to initiate appropriate "sourcing" efforts and periodic discussions with suppliers to explore new supply-chain and inventory management concepts.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN BUYER
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field or combination of related education and experience
- Working knowledge of ERP and JIT concepts
- Familiarity with electronics industry and engineering designs are desirable
