Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist who excells in a fast-paced environment, to join our team. This successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our medical office. Our Medical Receptionist serves patients by greeting and assisting patients; scheduling appointments, answering phones, maintaining records, utilizes office equipment, files and retrieves patient information, and collects patient payments. The Medical Receptionist will need to learn about skincare lines and the cosmetic/medical procedures we offer. Our office is unique in that we are a Medical Dermatology office that also offers Aesthetic treatments and has an online skincare store; thus, the need to be able to prioritize your daily duties is a must. This role is ideal for individuals who have a passion for healthcare and shows interest in dermatology/aesthetics and is eager to make a positive impact.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Utilize EMRs, including Akamai Practice Management, to schedule appointments, verify and update patient information (including insurance and financials).
- Answer and direct phone calls, ensuring that all patients receive timely and courteous communication.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding standards.
- Collect patient payments. Monitor and record patient balance and credits.
-Daily balance and close register (ie: cash, check, credit card payment).
-Maintain patient confidence and protect medical office operations by keeping information confidential, following HIPAA guidelines.
- Serves and protects the medical office community by adhering to professional standard, medical office policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
- Perform other administrative tasks as required, including managing supplies and ordering office materials, scheduling office/treatment equipment service and repairs (I.e: skin care products, fax machine and printers).
- Improves job knowledge by attending training sessions.
-Assist in managing skincare store (ie. product inventory, processing orders, shipping, taking payments)
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or related field.
- Proficiency in computerized systems, including patient scheduling and billing software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding standards.
- Experience with Akamai Practice Management or similar practice management software.
- Experience with medical reception and scheduling systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA/JCAHO guidelines/standards.
