Job Summary:
The Matthew Reardon Center for Autism is seeking a detail-oriented, positive, and collaborative Business Manager to join our team. This position plays a key role in managing the organization’s financial operations, including full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, general ledger posting and review, financial reporting, and assisting with tuition assistance programs such as the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship and Apogee Scholarship and our annual audit.
The Business Manager will also support monthly and annual financial processes, cash management, and produce monthly financial statements. This position reports directly to the President/CEO and offers flexibility to work both in the office and remotely, with some in-office days required.
Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable (A/P):
- Review and process incoming check requests and invoices.
- Enter A/P transactions and prepare checks for CEO review and signature.
- Respond to staff inquiries regarding payments and expense coding.
- Process checks bi-weekly and monitor outstanding checks to resolve issues.
Accounts Receivable (A/R):
- Manage tuition collection, including invoicing families and processing tuition payments.
- Set up and manage payment schedules for parents, ensuring timely and accurate processing of tuition payments.
- Follow up on outstanding balances and coordinate with families as needed.
- Review and post revenue batches, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Assist families with tuition assistance applications, including the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship and Apogee Scholarship programs.
General Accounting:
- Assist with bank reconciliations and monthly closing procedures.
- Maintain the general ledger, including posting and reviewing entries and preparing month-end account reconciliations.
- Manage monthly credit card statements: distribute, collect receipts, and ensure proper expense coding.
- Oversee fixed asset management, including depreciation, additions, and disposals.
Financial Reporting:
- Produce monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Work collaboratively with CEO to prepare annual budget.
Other Duties:
- Support the annual audit and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Assist with implementing and refining accounting systems and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting or related field (Bachelor’s degree required).
- Minimum of 3 years of related accounting experience, with nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with tuition collection, tuition assistance programs, and scholarships is a plus.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Part-time: 20-24 hours per week.
- Hourly rate: Based on experience.
