This role requires exceptional organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a deep understanding of legal procedures and terminology. Key Responsibilities:
- Document Preparation and Review: Draft, revise, and proofread complex legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
- E-Filing and Case Management: Electronically file documents with state and federal courts, maintaining and organizing case files to ensure seamless access to critical information.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule meetings, hearings, depositions, and court appearances, avoiding conflicts and ensuring timely preparation.
- Communication and Client Services: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders, handling inquiries accurately and promptly.
- Research and Data Analysis: Conduct basic legal research, gathering relevant information to support attorneys in case preparation, and compile data as needed.
- General Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance, including answering phones, managing correspondence, and handling mail.
- Billing and Timekeeping: Assist with tracking billable hours and preparing accurate invoices.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal or legal secretary, with a focus on litigation or corporate law.
