Position Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Real Estate Paralegal with approximately 2 years of experience to join our legal team. This role is ideal for someone who has a solid foundation in real estate law and is ready to take on more responsibility while continuing to grow under the mentorship of attorneys and senior staff. You’ll assist in all phases of commercial and/or residential real estate transactions, including due diligence, document preparation, and closing coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review standard real estate transaction documents, including purchase agreements, leases, closing checklists, and related materials under attorney supervision.
- Coordinate with attorneys, clients, title companies, lenders, and other third parties to facilitate smooth transactions.
- Conduct basic due diligence, including ordering and reviewing title reports, surveys, and zoning documents.
- Assist in preparing entity formation documents (LLCs, LPs) and managing state and local filings.
- Help track critical transaction dates and manage internal file organization.
- Draft routine correspondence and summaries for attorney review.
- Assist with closing preparation by organizing and assembling closing documents and ensuring proper execution and delivery.
- Manage post-closing tasks, such as recording documents and distributing executed copies.
Real Estate-Specific Duties:
- Review and summarize title commitments, exception documents, and surveys with guidance.
- Communicate with title and escrow agents to clear title issues or coordinate closing instructions.
- Support lease document review and maintain lease abstract summaries.
- Help maintain and update corporate records, real estate databases, and digital deal files.
Professional Expectations:
- Track and report billable and non-billable time accurately.
- Stay in regular communication with attorneys and legal management regarding workload and availability.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a strong attention to detail.
- Show initiative in managing tasks while seeking clarification when needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and legal education opportunities related to real estate law.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on real estate transactions.
- Paralegal Certificate or degree in legal studies (or equivalent work experience).
- Familiarity with real estate documents, terminology, and closing procedures.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF editing software; experience with document management systems a plus.
- Notary Public certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
Salary : $60,000 - $92,000
