The Billing Specialist will play a key role in managing client invoicing, time tracking, payment processing, and financial reporting. This position is ideal for someone who takes initiative, works well independently, and is excited to support the financial health of a modern law firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review client invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with client agreements
- Track billable hours, expenses, and disbursements for all cases and projects
- Communicate with clients regarding billing inquiries and resolve any billing issues in a timely and professional manner
- Record and apply customer payments, monitor outstanding balances, and follow up on overdue accounts
- Generate billing and accounts receivable reports for attorneys and firm leadership
- Collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, and the administrative team to ensure smooth billing operations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client billing records and data
- Use legal billing software and systems to process and manage financial information
- Ensure adherence to client billing guidelines, internal standards, and legal billing regulations
- Provide support in other finance-related functions as needed (e.g., bookkeeping, budgeting, FP&A, treasury, tax prep)
Your Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred
- 2 to 5 years of experience in a billing, finance, or accounting role (legal billing experience strongly preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage financial data accurately
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and legal billing or financial software
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Highly organized and capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
- Quick learner who is adaptable and proactive
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Professional, reliable, and resourceful with a high degree of integrity
Your Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $45,000–$60,000, commensurate with experience
