Maverick Distilling is hiring a Distillery Tasting Room.

Qualified candidates for this key leadership position will:

1. Convey the uniqueness of the Maverick Distilling brand and our spirits to each distillery visitor. Maintain a welcoming high-energy atmosphere where customers feel valued and eager to return.

2. Assure that every guest enjoys an outstanding and memorable brand experience that leads to return visits and brand advocates. Set and observe standards customer service, friendliness and cleanliness.

3. Maximize sales and profitability at the tasting room through sales of tours, tastings, cocktails, merchandise, programs, and events,

4. Maximize guest visits to the distillery through tours, tastings, events, programs, and other means of maximizing “feet in the door,”

5. Lead and train tasting room team to implement the goals of the of promoting the Maverick and Distillery story with enthusiasm and accuracy.

6. Define and implement standards for customer service, friendliness, and cleanliness, creating a fun, engaging, educational experience for guests,

7. Support the goals of the distillery by proactively assisting with their initiatives in the tasting room.

8. Proficiency in Toast POS

9. Address guest inquiries, complaints and special requests with professionalism and discernment.

The Distillery Tasting Room manager is responsible for providing an exceptional tasting room experience for every guest private event. The Manager will be a friendly, outgoing and organized leader who is a highly capable self-starter. This individual will take responsibility for the Distillery Tasting Room tasting and cocktail program, merchandise and liquor inventory, events, and the overall guest experience. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, leadership and organizational skills, as well as a passion for hospitality. This individual will create and implement strategies and tactics that achieve revenue and profit goals for the Tasting Room cocktail/tasting program, tours program, merchandise, and off-premise liquor sales, as well as public and private event revenue goals, and building maintainence/upkeep in the Tasting Room. The Manager will also possess and be able to verbally impart reasonable knowledge of whiskey after completing the education program in the distillery.

The Distillery Tasting Room Manager works collaboratively with the distillery and sales teams at Maverick Distilling. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the tasting room including the supervision of the tasting room and tour staff. The Tasting Room and Events Manager oversees operational tasks related to TABC regulations, POS, payroll and other record keeping systems. Other duties of the Manager will include:

  • Create the strategies and tactics that will achieve/exceed Tasting Room goals including merchandise, liquor sales, cocktail, and event revenue goals
  • Hire, supervise, train, support, evaluate and mentor the tasting room and event staff.
  • Oversee daily tasting room operations including staff scheduling, opening and closing procedures, inventory management and building maintainence and security.
  • Maintain accurate records for TABC and TTB compliance, POS transactions and operations systems, and cash handling/deposits.
  • Execute and promote all regular and special event activities in the Tasting Room and event space,
  • Maintain existing and cultivate new community and hospitality industry business relationships to achieve distillery tour and event revenue goals,
  • Develop and implement tactics to increase tasting room traffic designed to achieve daily Tasting Room traffic goals,
  • Maintain existing relationships and cultivate new business relationships in the event planning industry to achieve distillery event revenue goals,
  • Occasionally represent the brand in market at spirit festivals, off-site tastings, or other branding activities,
  • Supervise tasting room floor operations, including but are not limited to: maintaining housekeeping standards, conducting daily opening and closing procedures, and cash handling, and payroll duties,
  • Conduct weekly and month-end inventory management and reporting; Assure correct and timely reports,
  • Document, track, and collect trending data on daily tasting room sales,
  • Manage bar supplies, glassware, spirits, and other inventory,
  • Build visitor traffic at non-peak hours through private events, group gatherings, and Maverick Distilling events and programs,
  • Increase the number of guests going on tours and tour-related sales,
  • Implement and where needed, write, standard operating procedures (SOP) for the front-of- house. The SOP’s will cover topics including maintaining and improving the initial training and continuing education program for all people at the front of house. Training to encompass how whiskey is made, specifics about Maverick Distilling’s spirits, tour program, and cocktail standards. It should assure that all staff members completeTABC server certification.
  • Manage the merchandizing and sale of non-alcohol goods at the distillery tasting room including T-shirts, glasses, barware, hats, and other items. Responsibilities include assuring that merchandise is properly displayed and inventoried.
  • Maximize sales and profitability In the tasting room through product education, up-selling and engaging tour experiences.
  • Drive sales of spirits, cocktails, tours and merchandise to meet or exceed revenue goals
  • Implement strategies to increase foot traffic through special events, community partnerships and promotions.
  • Tract and analyze sales trends to optimize performance
  • Carry out all other duties and tasks as assigned by Ownership

Professional Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience managing a tourist/visitor attraction establishment, hospitality establishment, or bar or restaurant.
  • Employee supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in Toast POS

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
