Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional service while managing administrative tasks in a busy medical environment. This role requires knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of family practice to effectively assist patients and support the clinical.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage the check-in and check-out process efficiently.
- Schedule appointments and maintain the clinic's calendar to optimize patient flow.
- Collect patient information, verify insurance details, and manage billing inquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Assist patients in preparing for examinations
- Provide information regarding clinic services, procedures, and policies to patients.
- Handle phone inquiries professionally, addressing patient questions or directing them to appropriate staff.
- Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.)
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and collect speciments (blood, urine, etc.)
- Administer medications and injections under physician supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations (HIPAA)
- Ensure medical supplies are stocked and organized
- Operate and maintain medical equipment
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, EHR Software (eClinicalworks preferred), clinical procedures.
- Familiarity with outpatient care processes, particularly in family practice.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to think quickly and assist in emergencies.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with diverse patient populations.
