Mawson Lumber and Hardware is a locally owned and operated retail business providing building materials to the construction trades. Founded in 1909, Mawson Lumber is one of the oldest Fort Collins businesses conveniently located in Old Town at 350.Linden Street.
We are expanding our office team and are seeking an in-office Assistant to help process payroll and administrative tasks as directed by our office manager. This position is 30-40 hours a week with the potential of extended hours during the busier summer season.
Broadly speaking, the tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Daily Filing
- Bi-weekly Payroll
- Updating Excel Spreadsheets
- New Employee Onboarding Assistance
- Benefits and Liability Insurance Tracking
- OSHA and DOT Compliance Tracking
- Cash Handling
- Research Assistance
- Updating Customer Account Records
- Collection Calls
- Special Projects
- Maintaining Fleet and Company Phone Records
- Errands
- General Office Organization and Tidiness
- Cross-training on other accounting tasks to assist with overflow
The ideal candidate should take direction well, be able to work in a small business environment and have a high level of integrity/confidentiality. A back ground check is required.

Compensation: $20.00 – $22.00/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday – Friday

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Highly communicative with strong listening skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- 10-key experience
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
- Minimum of 1 year payroll processing experience in Colorado
- Proven experience in an office setting or similar role is preferred
- Excellent proofreading skills with attention to detail
