Bridge/Dam Superintendent
The Superintendent works at the project location for the duration of the project, reports to and works with the Project Manager. The Superintendent directs all the field construction activities and is responsible for coordinating the efforts of all direct-hire job personnel and subcontractors.
Position Responsibilities:
- On-site manager of day to day activities of the construction operation
- Works with the Project Manager to plan construction, sequencing, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment and work schedule
- Provides input to cost and schedule forecasts, verifies work in progress
- Works with owner's representative to ensure work complies with plans, specifications and schedule
- Responsible for compliance with all OSHA (and state agencies) regulations and company safety policies and procedures; works with Safety Director to monitor craft and subcontractor compliance with project safety program requirements
- Conducts weekly tool-box talks, performs weekly safety inspections
- Maintains staffing levels that contribute to EEO goals for minorities and females, and for apprenticeship goals
- Performs project close out and ensures punch-list is completed in a timely manner
Essential skills and experience:
- Five years experience as a key supervisor or superintendent on bridge or heavy concrete or steel marine projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Ability to negotiate and interact with others in a fair, firm and friendly manner
- Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups
- Strong organization, multi-tasking, leadership and decision making ability
- Competent computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel ,etc.
- Four years of experience and/or a technical degree (additional education a plus)
Based on experience and qualifications, applicants may be considered for a Key Supervisor Position that reports to the Superintendent. The Key Supervisor position offers opportunities for advancement into the Superintendent position.
Position requires moving to the project location for the duration of the project (typically one or more years, project locations typically throughout Washington, Northern Idaho and Northern Oregon).
