Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting within the company. This role requires in-depth knowledge of construction contract accounting and proficiency in handling industry-specific financial tasks (change orders, AIA billings, Time & material billings, Lien Waivers, etc.). Familiarity with the Foundation accounting software is highly preferred, as it is a key tool in our daily operations. The Accounting manager will work alongside and collaborate with the company's outside CPA firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounting department's daily operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare, analyze, and report financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Manage job cost accounting processes, including contract billing, revenue recognition, and tracking project costs.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of contracts, change orders, and related revenue.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Assist in developing best practices and providing input on streamlining business processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and executive teams to provide financial insights and support for strategic planning.
- Provide leadership, training, and development to accounting staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction contract accounting.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry standards, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Proficiency in Foundation construction accounting software is highly desired.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
