We're on the lookout for a Director of Human Resources to join our team at our Hackensack, New Jersey office with the opportunity to work hybrid, offering the perfect balance of remote flexibility and in-office collaboration!


What You'll Do:


The Director of Human Resources will oversee the daily operations of the HR function, ensuring efficiency and alignment with business objectives while fostering employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention. This role will manage key HR areas, including employee relations, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement, organizational development, onboarding and offboarding, compensation, total rewards, HRIS, and the seamless integration of HR processes across new and existing practices.


The successful candidate will be able to perform the following responsibilities:


Employee Relations

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in interpreting company policies, procedures, and federal and state employment laws, providing guidance to leaders and employees on compliance and best practices
  • Assist in developing new policies and procedures while ensuring existing ones remain up to date and compliant with federal and state regulations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, conducting investigations, addressing workplace issues, and providing guidance to leaders on compliance, performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
  • Develop and implement strategies to proactively address workplace concerns, fostering a fair and consistent approach to employee relations across the organization


Performance Management & Leadership Development

  • Support managers in implementing performance management processes, including goal setting, coaching, performance appraisals and performance improvement plans
  • Provide guidance on career development opportunities and employee growth plans
  • Analyze performance trends and recommend strategies for improving productivity and engagement
  • Conduct leadership development training every two months on various HR topics relevant to the company's goals and workplace challenges


Employee Engagement & Organizational Development

  • Design and implement initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, collaboration, and retention
  • Partner with leaders to cultivate a workplace culture that reflects MAX’s mission, vision and values
  • Partner with the MAX Marketing team to develop and execute strategies that position the organization to be recognized as a "Best Place to Work" and reinforce its positive workplace culture through social media, career pages, and industry events
  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership, fostering strong workplace relationships


New Hire Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Support the Sr. HR Generalist as needed in ensuring a smooth onboarding experience that helps new hires feel welcomed and integrated into the company culture
  • Oversee offboarding processes, providing guidance on exit interviews and ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws
  • Ensure accurate documentation and recordkeeping for all onboarding and offboarding activities


Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Assist SVP of Human Resources in managing compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they remain competitive and aligned with industry standards
  • Provide employees with guidance on benefits enrollment, and leave of absence policies
  • Manage leave of absence administration and ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with compensation policies and regulatory requirements


HR Technology & Process Improvement

  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of HRIS and other HR tools to enhance efficiency
  • Leverage HR analytics and reporting to drive data-informed decision-making
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements that optimize HR operations


Practice Integrations

  • Facilitate HR processes during the integration of new practices to ensure alignment with corporate policies and culture
  • Conduct due diligence and provide HR support during mergers or acquisitions
  • Train new partners and employees on HR policies, systems, and tools to ensure a smooth transition
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned


What You’ll Bring:


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 7 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in a multi-site/multi-state healthcare setting
  • Strong experience in employee relations, investigations, compliance, and policy development
  • Proven success in developing employee engagement and retention strategies
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation, benefits, and total rewards programs
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization Experienced in creating presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple business objectives and projects with the proper sense of urgency
  • Effective verbal, written, and electronic communication that is professional in both content and delivery
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated, accountable, and a team player
  • Results-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and work well with others in a fast-paced environment
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with various stakeholder groups
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
