Job Description:
As Catering Expeditor, you will play a crucial role in our catering operations. This role is responsible for cross-referencing all prepared food against the Banquet Event Order (BEO), ensuring accurate quantities, proper labeling, and adherence to food safety and allergen protocols. The Catering Expeditor works closely with the culinary teams to guarantee all food meets quality standards before departure. This role will also play a part in food preparation as needed, and overall organization within our kitchen, as well as have the opportunity to work off-site at our catered events.
Key Responsibilities:
· Cross-check all prepared food against the BEO to confirm correct quantities and specifications.
· Organize all food items designated for an event, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
· Ensure every food item is properly labeled, with allergens clearly identified.
· Perform a final quality check on all items, ensuring freshness, presentation, and compliance with company standards.
· Coordinate with kitchen supervisors to resolve any discrepancies in orders before food leaves for the event.
· Assist with packing and organizing food for efficient transportation and setup.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization in the food preparation, expediting, and staging areas.
- Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
· Keep event cabinets rotated according to time and date of event per client.
· Ensure that all orders for the following day are fully prepared, packaged and labeled according to BEO.
· Assist with basic food preparation as needed, adhering to recipes and menu specifications.
· Ensure that all equipment is functioning correctly and report any maintenance issues.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant or catering environment.
- Must be able to work the following schedule: Mon-Fri from 10a to 6p including some weekends and holidays based on company need and business level.
- Ability to multitask and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- High attention to detail, ensuring all orders are accurate and up to our standards.
- Ability to maintain organization and composure during high-volume service.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Have a valid United States drivers license and clean driving record
- Have prior experience in driving large vans/trucks
- Prior expeditor experience is a plus; packing/processing orders, tracking inventory, etc.
- Be able to pass a DOT physical
Education:
- Culinary school training is preferred but not required.
Compensation & Schedule:
- Starting Pay: $21-$25, based on experience.
- Schedule: Mon-Fri from 10a to 6p including some weekends and holidays based on company need and business level.
