Job Title: Maritime Maintenance Technician
Location: Queens Harbor
Job Summary:
The Maritime Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and operational efficiency of the neighborhood’s private waterway system, which includes a smaller-scale version of the Panama Canal. This role ensures the safe and smooth operation of locks, gates, pumps, and other critical infrastructure while performing routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. This person will also oversee three other individuals in this role and be customer facing regularly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reports to the General Manager
- Must be willing to work weekends and certain holidays
- Salary position 40 hour week minimum. Starting pay is 70k and based off experience and qualifications
- Must be familiar with creating and maintaining spreadsheets
- Must have the following experience or knowledge of
- Must have understanding of hydraulic systems
- Operating a small boat and how to maintain it
- Use of a ship to shore vhf radio
- Microsoft office suit

Responsible for all operations of the lock system and marina
- Conducts vessel checks at marina to ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- Manages and executes leases for marina slips
- Collects and maintains file of renters vessel registration and insurance
- Reads electrical meters on 63 marina slips monthly and updates billing spreadsheet
- Performs basic maintenance to the facilities and association owned vessel
- Operates the lock during service hours directly and through staff members
- Serves as point of contact to residents for all matters concerning the lock and marina
- On call for emergencies. Company cell phone provided
- Conducting tours of the lagoon monthly
- Acts as supervisor and manages a staff of 3 PT employees
- Sets schedules
- Approves time punches
- Trains staff on operations
Qualifications:
- Experience in marine mechanics, hydraulic systems, or industrial maintenance preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems related to maritime operations.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment, such as cranes or winches, is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be comfortable working in and around water in various weather conditions.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, maritime safety, electrical) are advantageous.
