Community Safety Technician - NOC Shift

Maybelle Center is seeking a Community Safety Technician who will be responsible for providing security services for Maybelle Center (including the Macdonald Residence and Maybelle Center administrative and program space.) The Community Safety Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment at Maybelle Center, making sure residents’ rights are honored while creating a drug free, violence free, and respectful space for both residents and staff. This position is full-time, non-exempt and will be on-site at the Macdonald Residence Assisted Living Facility and will be a NOC shift position from 10:00 PM-6:30 AM Sunday through Thursday.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal patrols to ensure access points are properly secured and to ensure protection of property and people with a high degree of attentiveness to details and safety.
  • Monitor property to detect unauthorized trespassers and provide appropriate deterrence and a calming presence.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras to assess external environment and potential risks.
  • Prevent and detect theft or misappropriation of goods, money, or other items of value.
  • Protect individuals and property from harm.
  • Respond to emergency situations and implement emergency response procedures.
  • Investigate reported incidents in a timely manner.
  • Document rounds in Safety Logbook and write clear, detailed, accurate reports as needed.
  • Interact positively with all individuals with whom there is contact, encouraging a positive work environment for all staff and a positive living environment for all residents.
  • Assure that the after-hours phone line is being answered and information passed along appropriately.
  • Prevents unauthorized access.
  • Must report emergency situations as they happen to Community Safety Manager.
  • Provide a visible security presence to deter potential crimes and unruly behavior.
  • Contract emergency services when needed to ensure effective emergency response for staff and/or residents.
  • Community Security Technicians are required to cross-train and assist other departments with organizational needs and tasks.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned and perform other duties.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • One-year-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid Unarmed Department of Public Standards and Training Certification
  • Basic typing skills are essential along with basic knowledge of PC's and word processing software, preferably in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Support a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the resident, employee, residence, company information and records.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills while being comfortable with speaking effectively before groups of residents and employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and regularly through reading and writing emails in a timely manner.
  • Have a desire and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated reliability with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Participate in training, in services and attend meetings as required.
  • Support a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Protect privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to residents and staff.
  • Comply with the attendance and punctuality and other established organizational policies.
  • Maintain a neat appearance, good personal hygiene and appropriate attire.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The environment is characteristic of a facility in which healthcare in provided to the frail elderly and individuals requiring additional assistance due to special needs. The noise level is usually moderate.

Compensation:

Base Pay - $22.00 - $26.00/Hour - $2 Shift Differential for NOC Hours
